Circulation

BORROWING LIBRARY MATERIALS

Students:

  • Students must have a current, validated student I.D. card in order to check out materials from the library.
  • Students may borrow circulating books for 21 days, with two renewals of 21 days each.
  • Videos, DVDs and Curriculum (student textbooks, teachers’ guides, and workbooks) may be borrowed for 7 days, with two renewals of 7 days each.
  • For undergraduate students, a maximum of 25 items can be checked out at one time.
  • For graduate students, a maximum of 50 items can be checked out at one time

Faculty:

  • Faculty may borrow circulating books for 21 days, with 2 renewals of 21 days each.
  • Faculty may borrow videos, DVDs, and Curriculum materials (student textbooks, teachers’ guides, and workbooks) for 7 days, with two renewals of 7 days each.
  • Faculty can have a maximum of 50 items checked out at one time.

Staff:

  • Staff may borrow circulating books for 21 days, with two renewals of 21 days each.
  • Staff may borrow videos, DVDs, and Curriculum materials (student textbooks, teachers’ guides, and workbooks) for 7 days, with two renewals of 7 days each.
  • Staff can have a maximum of 50 items checked out at one time.

Alumni:

  • Alumni must provide a current address, telephone number, and email address in order to be added to the circulation system.
  • Alumni may borrow 15 books at a time. The loan period is 21 days, with two renewal periods of 21 days each.

Academic Share, InfoPass, and Access Pass:

  • Patrons must provide a current ID from their academic institutions. They must provide a current address, telephone number, and email address in order to be added to the circulation system.
  • These patrons may borrow 15 books at a time. The loan period is 21 days, with two renewal periods of 21 days each.

Visitors:

  • Visitors must provide valid identification and a current address, telephone number, and email address in order to be added to the circulation system.
  • Visitors may borrow a maximum of 5 books at one time.
  • Visitors may borrow books for 21 days.

Overdue and Replacement Charges

  • Fines are $.25 per day all materials.
  • If Medaille College Libraries items are 30 days overdue, the borrower will be billed full replacement cost plus a $15.00 processing and billing fee. If billed items are returned, the replacement, processing and billing fees will be waived and the patron will only pay a $5.00 overdue fine.
  • Full replacement cost will be charged for lost or severely damaged library materials.
  • Accumulated fines exceeding $10 will result in the suspension of borrowing privileges.
  • Failure to return borrowed materials will result in transcripts, semester grades, and refund checks being withheld, as well as a loss of library borrowing privileges.

Review your record

  • Library patrons can view their library record, including patron contact information, items checked out and their due dates online. Patrons can also renew books and request materials by clicking on the “My Library Account” link from the Libraries’ homepage.

Medaille College Libraries subscribe to two ILL services from which patrons can request materials that the Libraries do not own.

Illiad is powered by WorldCat, which allows patrons of subscribing libraries to view and request books, articles, and other media from libraries around the country and the world. ILLiad is most useful for requesting articles not available in full-text through library databases.
